Every Nintendo Direct adds another dozen titles to the pile, and it gets harder by the month to keep straight what's actually out, what's locked to a specific date and what's still sitting on a "2027" placeholder. This is our running answer to that problem: a single, regularly updated reference organized by when each game is realistically playable, not by when it was first teased. We'll keep folding in new confirmations as Nintendo, Sony's former exclusives, Capcom, Atlus, Square Enix and everyone else keep adding to the console's second year.
In Brief
- Switch 2 launched June 5, 2025 with Mario Kart World as its flagship exclusive, and the console's library has grown every month since through a mix of first-party exclusives, "Switch 2 Edition" upgrades of older games, and day-and-date third-party ports.
- The next twelve months bring two genuinely new Nintendo franchises — Metroid Ravenous (January 28, 2027) and Kirby and the World Beyond (spring 2027) — alongside a wave of third-party heavyweights previously seen as PlayStation-first, including Persona 6, a Persona 4 remake, and Final Fantasy VII Revelation.
- This page is a living reference, not a single news story — dates move, publishers add titles between Directs, and we update the lists below rather than publishing a new article every time something changes.
Available now: launch day through today's eShop
Switch 2 launched on June 5, 2025 at $449.99, and its day-one lineup leaned heavily on ports and upgraded editions rather than new exclusives — a pattern that's held for most of the console's first year. The system's own exclusive at launch was Mario Kart World; everything else that day was either a "Switch 2 Edition" upgrade of an existing game (Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, Hogwarts Legacy, Street Fighter 6, Hitman World of Assassination) or a straightforward new release like Deltarune's first chapters and Survival Kids.
In the months since, the exclusive side of the library filled in with Donkey Kong Bananza (July 2025), Metroid Prime 4: Beyond in its Switch 2 Edition, Kirby Air Riders, Drag x Drive, and The Duskbloods, while the third-party side kept adding day-and-date heavyweights: Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, EA Sports FC 27, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, and Metaphor: ReFantazio. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion and Star Fox Adventures joined the Switch Online library the same week as September's Nintendo Directs, and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity — Definitive Edition arrives February 25, 2027 with every existing DLC pack rolled in.
Confirmed for the rest of 2026
The back half of 2026 is dominated by ports of games that already exist elsewhere, which has become Nintendo's default strategy for filling out Switch 2's library quickly. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered arrives free for existing Switch owners on September 29, with the Switch 2 edition adding mouse controls, gyro aiming and touchscreen support. Pikmin 4's Switch 2 Edition follows on November 12 with a new "Dandori Academy" mode and voice commands routed through the console's built-in microphone, and Professor Layton and the New World of Steam — said to carry the largest puzzle collection in the franchise's history — closes out the year on December 10 across both Switch and Switch 2.
Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition all landed on Switch 2 this fall as part of Capcom's biggest single commitment yet to the platform, alongside Fatal Fury from SNK and a Switch 2 edition of LEGO Batman from Warner Bros. Monster Hunter Wilds' Switch 2 port arrives December 4 with local co-op and the Ascendance expansion built in.
Confirmed for 2027 and beyond
2027 is where Switch 2's second year actually starts to look distinct from its first, headlined by two genuinely new Nintendo franchises instead of ports. Metroid Ravenous, a 2D side-scrolling adventure that strands Samus Aran on a moon after an ambush and has her survive by draining energy from the creatures hunting her, launches January 28, 2027. Kirby and the World Beyond follows in spring 2027, reimagining Kirby in full 3D with a sword strapped to his side while keeping his signature copy ability intact — timed deliberately to land during the character's 35th-anniversary year.
The third-party side of 2027 is where the console's growing install base really shows up in the numbers. Persona 6 is confirmed for Switch 2, alongside a separate remake, Persona 4 Revival, dated for May 20, 2027 — three months after its PlayStation 5, Xbox and PC launch, but still the first time a mainline Persona entry has ever been confirmed for Nintendo hardware at all. Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and final chapter of Square Enix's remake trilogy, arrives April 8, 2027, the same day as every other platform. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and a new Mega Man crossover fighting title, Mega Man: Dual Override, round out the year's confirmed third-party slate, alongside earlier-stage announcements for Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember and Resident Evil Veronica.
How we keep this updated
This page changes shape every few weeks, which is exactly the point of building it as a standalone reference instead of folding it into a single news story that goes stale the day after it publishes. When we cover a Direct, a State of Play–style showcase, or a publisher earnings call that adds new Switch 2 titles, we update the relevant section above rather than asking you to go hunting through our archive for the latest numbers. If you're trying to track a specific game that isn't listed here yet, our full recap of September's back-to-back Nintendo Directs has additional detail on the two headline reveals and the rest of that broadcast's third-party lineup.
